I think of you a lot buddy, hanging out at the house, and at the college. You, me, Melissa, Amanda, Alexis, Big Ron, and Freddie and man the parties. hahaha so many good times. All the conversations we shared. It's been a long time though. I was floored when I heard the news you were gone. I wish I could turn back the hands of time and go back to those days and see you smile again and make me laugh. Man, you had a way about you, everybody loved you. I wish I had that. Wes, wish I could have one more conversation with you. R.I.P. Brother, I'll never forget you, friend. Ill come back here often, and I'll make sure I talk to you.

Wesley. I dreamed you weren't gone. Your birthday was a very hard day for me. The days before and the days since were hard as well. I cry for you more than anyone would believe. God knows the depth of my heartache and He knows how much you mean to me. I wonder when I will not get sad so often when I think about you. I almost don't want to. Then I would have to accept that it real and I don't want to get. I'm getting grief and guilt counseling. I love you. I will be back again.

13 years ago today you asked me to marry you. You wanted to be different than the cliche of asking on Valentine's day. So you asked the day after. I have thought of you almost daily since the last time I saw your face. I think of you daily. You will be a part of me forever. Those memories are mine and you set a bar that no one will ever measure up to. So many regrets. I still love you Wes.

Merry Christmas Wes. It's so weird when I think about you not walking around somewhere on Earth. I want that so bad. My heart drops and my stomach turns a flip every time I think of you. All my love. Forever. I'll be back.

Wes. I am grieving hard man. I have an elephant ornament in memory of you hanging on my tree. It will be there every Christmas until I die or it crumbles. I had something wonderful happen last Friday. I felt you with me. I'm sitting in a classroom praying, and anxious. I look up and right in front of me was a painting of two elephants. No other pictures on the walls. I don't want this to be true. I'll always wonder what could be changed that day. I know exactly where I was and exactly what I was doing when you left this realm. You were my soul mate. You still are. I don't think my opinion on that will change. If there's a way to actually look for someone in the after life, whatever it turns out to be like, I will look for you! Ugh. It hurts. All my love. I'll be back.

Oh Wes. I just found out about you. I am devastated. I never ever stopped thinking about you man. I wanted to talk to you. To hug you. To apologize to you. I will forever carry you in my heart. I will forever carry your name. I don't care what anyone thinks. I have a picture of us kissing. I have that mirror you bought me at the mall in Statesville. You will be a part of my life for the rest of my life.

I have to mourn. I have to feel like I have closure. I'm remembering so much. All the songs you loved. You would hear a song and play it over and over and over obsessively. Exactly how I do. Vienna. I remember that night. Hours and hours of driving with that song on repeat. It always reminded me of you. Now it means even more. I remember when you asked me to learn the words to Lady Antebellums I need you now so I could sing it to you. I did in a day. I loved that you loved to hear me sing. Wes you were my "one". My only true love. I regretted what I did everyday for years. I ached for you. I want to believe you're with me. I want to believe I will see you in heaven. Since we parted my life has changed 180°. Now I have the regret that I didn't shine the light of God's saving grace enough that you received it. I did get you to stop saying GD! I'm married and I have a 3 1/2 year old autistic son. I taught him something you told me. Now he'll say it forever and it will remind me of you. I love you Wes. I'm not doing good right now. I want to wake up and know if I drive to Denver there's a chance I'll run into you. I'll be back here soon.

Dear Family,

I am very sorry for your loss. The Bible holds out a reassuring promise that "all those in the memorial tombs will hear [Jesus's] voice and come out." (John 5:28,29) What a loving provision from God! May you find much comfort and strength from this trustworthy promise. (Isaiah 55:10,11; Revelation 21:4,5)

This world has lost a beautiful soul, full of love. I have the happiest memories from my childhood with Wesley. I could go on and on with stories. We always stayed up late in the basement in Marietta watching scary movies. And I remember sneaking in the 'good room' of the house to try and hear our parents watching something on HBO that we weren't allowed to watch. Our family vacations to Nags Head. Going fishing on the Ohio River in the boat. All the times we were at Granny's house in sleeping bags. I really could go on and on. There aren't many memories from growing up that Wesley is not in. I can never look at GI Joe or Transformers and not think of Wesley (and Jason). Wesley was like my brother growing up. We are blessed to have had Wesley in our lives. We can all keep his smile in our hearts, and his laughter in our memories. Rest in peace, Wesley, I will always love you and never forget you.-Tara

Our hearts are saddened to hear of Wesley's passing. He was always such a kind and courteous young man. Our son and daughter attended NIHS with Wesley, and he attended some events with the youth of our church. We kept him in our prayers during those years , as he had a searching heart and a tender spirit. Our love and prayers go out to all of your family in your loss.

In my mind's eye, I can still see Wesley as a small boy, giggling about some little joke with that infectious laugh of his, scooting along the kitchen tile in his light blue, footie pajamas. I remember how excited he was the first day he climbed up to the backyard treehouse all by himself, or how much fun he had stealing the still-warm chocolate chip cookies when Carolyn had made a fresh batch at their house in Ohio. He had a such a capacity to laugh and to love so deeply, that makes it jarring that he is gone so suddenly. He loved his family, and his bond with his brother Jason was forged from the moment he was born. He loved his mother, Carolyn; his father, George; his grandparents andz great-grandparents all so, so much. There is a line from Shakespeare's Macbeth that has been echoing through my mind since I heard of his passing: "Out, out brief candle..." Wesley's was a light that shone so bright, and will continue to do so, so long as his whole family and all of his friends keep that light in their hearts. I can see him now, waiting for that fresh pan of brownies from Granny in the hereafter, watching over all of us with that beautiful smile on his face. It is a light that can no longer go out. Our deepest condolences to Carolyn, Jason, George and the extended Johnson and Vass families. Much love, Bill, Christy and Fiona Smith
