Dorothy Jean Frye Hayes, 82, formerly of Statesville, passed away under Hospice care in Johnson City, Tennessee, Sunday, July 30, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born in Iredell County September 17, 1934, the daughter of the late Glen David Frye and the late Myra Hedrick Miller.
Until recent health issues made it necessary for her to move in with family in Tennessee, Dorothy spent her entire life in the Statesville area. She worked for a number of years as a knitter with Taurus Textiles. She also worked with Haho Dairy Farms. She was a member of the Holiness Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Hager and Donna Jean Carroll; two sons, Daryl Lynn Anderson and Kenneth Eugene Anderson; an adopted son, John Arthur Weatherman, Jr.; and one sister, Connie Stanley, all of Statesville. A special friend, Allen Shumaker, of Johnson City, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Russell Anderson, and two sisters, Jessie Mae Parker and Beatrice Faye Feamster.
The graveside committal will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 2, in the Prayer Section of Iredell Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her mother. There will be no formal visitation or viewing.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Allen Shumaker, Rhyne Anderson, Matt Anderson, John Anderson, Kenneth Anderson and Lane Weatherspoon.
