Frances Louise (Cleghorn) Elam

Frances Louise Cleghorn Elam, passed away November 18, 2017, at 11:00 PM at Maple Leaf Health Care. She was a native of Tennessee, born to Isaac Cleghorn and Nancy Sullivan Cleghorn on March 4, 1925.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Elam (2007); two daughters, Nancy Ann Johnson and Margie Marie Dollarhide; two brothers, Charlie Cleghorn and Virgil Cleghorn; three sisters, Ida Linder, May Templeton and Lizzy Robinson and two infant siblings.

Mrs. Elam was a homemaker for her family. As long as her health permitted, she was an active member of Broad Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Faye Hill of Harmony; one son, William "Ray" Elam; four granddaughters, Melissa Shoemaker, Kimberly Moore, Amy Lynn Hill and Francine Dollarhide all of Statesville; four grandsons, William Elam, Michael Elam, RJ Hill and James Dollarhide; thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren all of Statesville and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the CNA’s and nurses at Maple Leaf.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 24, at 3:00 PM at Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville officiated by Dave Wood, Minister at Broad Street Church of Christ. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
