Troy "Craig" Deal

   Troy “Craig” Deal, age 81 of Statesville, North Carolina departed this world on August 1, 2023.

   Craig, as he was so lovingly known as, was born on July 16, 1942, in Iredell County, NC.  He was the son of the late Troy Eugene Deal and May Estell (Swicegood) Deal.  

   In Life, Craig chose a career in the animal industry where he was a dog trainer for over 16 years.  He had a love for animals, especially horses and dogs.  Craig married his wife Phyllis Ann (Hartsell) Deal in September of 1962.  He spent 61 beautiful years by her side.  Craig was a Christian man and was a member of Union Chapel Church.

   Craig leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Phyllis Deal of Statesville, two sons Wesley Deal (Rafael) of Costa Rica and Franklin Deal of Statesville, a daughter Anita Deal Weaver of Statesville, and a sister Shirley Forbes of Statesville.  Also, surviving Craig are his two grandchildren Justin Kiser (Samantha) of Statesville, and Johnathan Kiser of Minnesota, three great grandchildren Lily, Emerie, and Callie Kiser, his beloved dog “Buff dog”, two nieces Meridith Koplan and Cindy Finely, and a nephew Rodney Forbes.

   On Friday, August 4, a graveside service will be held at Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery and begin at 1:00 pm.  Pastor Robin Miller and Pastor Dave Harvey will officiate the service.
