John Morgan Mowrey

   John Morgan Mowrey, age 72 of Hickory, North Carolina passed away on May 11, 2023, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

   John was born on July 19,1950 in Cattaraugus County, New York.  He was the son of Francis J. Mowrey and the late Kenneth Eugene Mowrey.  In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Sue (Speaks) Mowrey.

   In life, John honored our country and served in the United States Air Force.  He graduated from the University of Santa Barbara earning a bachelor’s degree.  Later, he chose a career in Information Technology where he worked for Catawba Medical Center in records and billing until he retired.  After retiring John enjoyed the little things in life like fishing and golfing.

   John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving mother Francis Mowrey, two daughters Sonja Roberts (Chris) of Weaverville, NC and Angela Moore (David) of Trinity, NC, two sisters Jeanne Dolan and Jeri Trakas, both of Moreno Valley, CA, three grandchildren Shaelyn and Elijah Roberts, and Kara Moore, and a nephew Dylan Dolan.

   On Saturday, May 20, a visitation for John will be held at Iredell Memorial Park and begin at 1:00 pm.  Pastor Wes Sink will officiate the service.
