Dorothy Taylor Obituary

Dorothy Ann Glasscock Taylor, 89, of Olin passed away on July 17, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

Dorothy was born October 21, 1929 in Mocksville, a daughter to the late Marshall Glasscock and Ellen Rollins Glasscock. Dorothy grew up in Davie County, attended local schools and graduated high school. She was one of 7 children. She was married to James Edward Taylor who passed away in 1995. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband.

During WWII, she was left on the farm to help her Daddy. She helped him clear land and grow the crops in the field. In her younger days, she loved to travel. Later in her life, Dorothy worked as an industrial seamstress. She was also a member of the Hebron Baptist Church. She was a fiercely independent woman. She took good care of her house with help from her brother Everett. She loved her chain saw and mowing the grass on her riding lawn mower. She would feed her birds every day and she loved being outside

Dorothy is survived by a loving family, including her daughter Angela Drum (Mike) of Greensboro, daughter Karen Taylor (James), son Ronnie Taylor (late Doreen) of Stoney Point, grandchildren Douglas Drum and Mary Drum and her great-grandchildren Cameron Drum and Meghan Drum. Dorothy truly loved and protected her children. She was a gracious, kind lady who was loved very much and will be deeply missed.
