Velmer Jeanette Kiser Wimbley, 67, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House following a long and courageous battle with COPD. A native of Dickenson County, VA, she was born July 11, 1950, to the late L.C. Kiser and Marjorie Wiles Kiser. She was the widow of Vernon M. Wimbley who died in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a brother, George Rodell Kiser.

Velmer had spent most of her adult life in Iredell County. A number of years ago, she worked at Statesville Chair Company but had since been a homemaker for her family. When her health permitted, she attended Landmark Church of God.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 13, at Landmark Church of God (2200 E. Broad St.) with her nephew, Rev. David Byrd,  and Pastor Phil Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
