Maidie Lee Johnson Hayes, 93, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 20, 2018, from Iredell Memorial Hospital. A native of Iredell County, she was born February 24, 1925, the daughter of William Coy and Fannie Belle Crouse Johnson. She was the widow of Wade Hayes who died February 20, 1996, and they had been married for 53 years. She was also preceded in death by two sons, William Harold Hayes and Tommy Lee Hayes; five brothers: John, Walter, Bill, Jack and Charles Johnson; and two sisters, Ethel Todd and Ruth Sloan Campbell.
After working many years in the textile industry, she then worked for Jurney’s Rest Home for several years. She had been a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church since 1940. Her memory will be cherished by several nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who survive.
The viewing and visitation time will be from 1:00 until 1:45 Saturday in the sanctuary of Holly Springs Baptist Church. A graveside service officiated by Rev. Bobby Henderson will follow at 2:00 PM in the church cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband.
