Bill Paul Barnes, Sr., 73, passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital Wednesday, March 28, 2018, following a period of declining health. Born September 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Challie Theodore Barnes and Theresa Thelma Smith Barnes, and the widower of the late Hazel Lambert Barnes who died April 29, 1997, after 33 years of marriage. He was a retired driller in the mining industry.
His memory will be cherished by two daughters, Lisa Yarboro and Deanna Barnes, both of Harmony; one brother, Bobby Lee Barnes of Hiddenite; six grandchildren: Justin and Daniel Barnes, Morgan Williams (Jordan), Kimberly Yarboro, Summer Barnes and Colby Cass; plus two great grandchildren, Thomas Menscer and Bransen Williams.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Billy, Jr. and Ray Dean Barnes; one sister, Betty Grant, and eight brothers: Jack, Ned, Donnie, Homer, Ronald, Richard, Lloyd and Harold Barnes.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 2, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church, 137 Pulpwood Lane, Statesville. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Liberty Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Roger Holland and Rev. Joe Dellinger. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the time of service. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
