Raymond Lee Bruce

Raymond Lee Bruce, 74, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, March 1, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Iredell County and the son of the late Fronist Lee Bruce and Mary Lizzie Estes Bruce. He was the widower of the late Mary Ann Lambert Bruce who died May 19, 2014. He was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond Darrell Bruce, a brother, Gene Bruce, and two sisters as children.

Raymond was known to be a hard worker. He worked for more than 50 years in the furniture industry. He also enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing when time permitted. He had been a member of Redemption Baptist Church for more than 35 years.

He is survived by one daughter, Martha Olmes (Steve) of Summerville, SC; four sons: Ned Barnes (Patricia) of Yadkin County, Ernest Bruce (Janet) and Barry Bruce (Sharon), both of Harmony, and Eric Bruce (Kristin) of Sugarloaf; one brother, Hoyt Bruce, of Statesville; plus 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday at Redemption Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Carrington and Rev. Jerry Wallace officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
