Luther Eugene Webster, 83, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was a native of Mooresville, born January 13, 1933, and the son of the late Addie Brooks and Carl Webster. He was the widower of Avis L. Williams Webster.
He graduated from Iredell County/Mooresville Public Schools and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He worked as a machinist for approximately 50 years before retiring. In retirement, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, reading, and most of all spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph “Buck” Webster; a half-brother, Brady “Shorty” Brooks and a half-sister, Nina Lytle. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Brandenburg (Richard) of Statesville; nieces, Debbie Torrance (Benny) and Pam Bright; great-niece, Marla McDaniel; grandchildren: Michael and Scott Brandenburg, and Jennifer Rife; and great grandchildren: Justin & Kaitlyn Miller and Ella & Addison Brandenburg.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Willow Valley Cemetery in Mooresville where he will be inurned beside his late wife. Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville is serving the family. Condolences may be posted online at www.reavisfhstatesville.com
