James Edward Glenn, 80, formerly of Caleb Setzer Road, Newton, died Friday, October 21, 2016, at Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Statesville. Born in Catawba County on June 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Ed Glenn and Cordie Huffman Glenn.
For many years, Mr. Glenn worked as a truck driver for E. R. Carpenter Company, the largest maker of comfort cushioning products in the world. He also served with the National Guard Reserve Unit.
He is survived by one son, Billy Ray Glenn of Statesville; a brother, Bob Glenn (Dorothy) of Newton; a sister, Dorothy Travis (Bud) and a half-sister, Teresa Glenn, both of Newton. He is also survived by his pet companion dog which he called “Chico”, known by some of the family and friends as “Taco”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny Edward Glenn, who died in 1978, a brother, Marshall Glenn, and a sister, Joy Huffman.
