Evelyn Rose (Penhollow) Boan

Evelyn Rose Boan, 55, passed away at Gordon Hospice House Tuesday, March 14, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer.  Her life began in Dubuque, Iowa, on October 31, 1961,  the daughter of the late Gilbert L. and Leona M. Penhollow. She and her husband of 26 years, Jerry Wane Boan, had been residents of Iredell County since the year 2000.

Although Evelyn had worked in various capacities over the years, her primary job was being a good wife and mother, a job she did well. She had a vast love for the land. She was a gifted artist which gave her pleasure, as well as spending time outdoors and time with her family. She had formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher, VBS worker and choir member. She was currently a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Jerry, she is survived by a daughter, Sharayia Holben and husband, Sterling, of Statesville, her eight siblings who live in states across the country, and many nieces and nephews.

The time of visitation and viewing will be at her church, Oakdale Baptist, beginning at 12:15 PM Thursday, March 16. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 PM in the church with Pastor Matthew Eades officiating. Interment will follow in Society Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered to Oakdale Baptist Church, 585 Mocksville Hwy., Statesville, NC 28625.
