Ed Grimmett

Edward Nelson “Ed” Grimmett, 55, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Catawba Valley Medical Center following a period of declining health. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was born March 13, 1961, the son of Harvey Grimmett of West Virginia and the late Daisy Hatfield Grimmett. He grew up in Illinois, graduated from high school and went on to obtain an Associate Degree in business.

Ed and his wife, Melissa Dawn Dotson Grimmett, had been residents of Iredell County for approximately 10 years. Prior to becoming disabled, he had worked in the residential construction industry. He loved his family and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed watching reruns of M.A.S.H., Sanford & Son, and The Andy Griffith Show on TV.

In addition to his father and his wife, he is survived by three sons: Eddie Smith of Illinois, John Michael Dotson and Joshua Dotson, both of Statesville; one brother, Daniel Grimmett of West Virginia; four sisters: Donna Grimmett and Tammy Casey both of Illinois, and Kay Jeurtis and Joyce Curry, both of West Virginia; five grandchildren: Kaylee, Kaylen, Raelynn, Weston and London; a very special nephew, Christopher Owensby; special nieces, Kelly & Crystal; plus several other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 3, at Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville.  Services will follow the time of visitation.
