Davor Sijerkovic

Mr. Davor Sijerkovic, 54, passed away at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville Friday night, March 24, 2017, following an all-too-brief battle with cancer. A native of Zagreb, Croatia, he was born July 27, 1962, the son of Milan Sijerkovic and Lidija Kokic, who remain in Croatia.  On November 18, 1989, he married Davorka Filipusic, his wife of more than 27 years.

They came to the United States in 1990, where he continued his education and received a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida in Tampa. They moved to the Statesville area in 1996. He has served as a Quality Engineer with CommScope, Inc. of Hickory.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one beloved son, Philip Sijerkovic of the home, and a sister, Vanja Maksimovic of Croatia.

He enjoyed life to the fullest. In October, he ran a 5K race. He was an airplane enthusiast and enjoyed assembling and flying model airplanes with remote control. He also enjoyed fishing, skiing, boating, rafting, hiking and all types of outdoor recreational activities.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Wednesday, March 29, at Reavis Funeral Home, 318 Davie Avenue, Statesville.
