Charles Clayton Prevette

Charles Clayton Prevette, 78, formerly of Iredell County, died at his home in Savannah, GA, Monday, December 12, 2016. He was born in Wilkes County on December 29, 1937, the son of the late Robert and Ruth Felts Prevette. He previously resided in the Union Grove section of Iredell County, but had lived in Savannah for a number of years.

Charles was a Veteran of the US Army, serving two tours in Vietnam, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Metal. After his military service, he worked in residential and commercial construction as a painter and framer. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing the guitar.

He is survived by two sons, Roger Wayne Prevette of Statesville and Charles Edward Prevette of Mocksville; two step-daughters, Cheryl Godwin (Jack) of Attapulgus, GA, and Susan Bossiere (Marc), of Tucson, AZ; and one sister, Norma Bunton, of Union Grove.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis Prevette, and an infant sister.

Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 11635 Statesville Road, North Wilkesboro. Pastor Don Myers will officiate.
