Brian "Todd" Jones

Brian “Todd” Jones, 48, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 13, 2017, following a courageous battle against colon cancer. An Iredell County native, he was born September 19, 1968, the son of Cheryl Meadows Jones and David Dwight Jones. He was a graduate of West Iredell High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Known and loved by the many students and athletes he has taught and coached at both Statesville Middle and Statesville High School as “Coach Jones”, he had a passion for the betterment of kids’ lives. For a number of years, he coached girls AAU basketball. His self-sacrificing dedication to the “kids” he loved will be remembered forever. He was also a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Angie Bustle and husband, Eric; a niece, Graycie Bustle; and his maternal grandmother, Katherine Souther Meadows. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Locke Meadows, and his paternal grandparents, Lee and Geraldine Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Fairview Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at the church at 2:00 PM Friday with Dr. T. Scott Eanes and Rev. Jeff Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Iredell Memorial Park.

Serving as Pallbearers are James “Buttons” Bowers, Richard Murdock, Tim Stewart, Todd Austin, Brian Rush, Dr. Paul Swaney and Mike Lindley.
